Häufig wurden diese Dosen von Militärs gekauft. Die Herstellung von lackierten Gegenständen war langwierig und sehr aufwendig. Berühmt für ihre hochwertigen Ausführungen waren vor allem die Produkte der Braunschweiger Fabrikation von Stobwasser.
